Serve is Dunn School's community service app for authorized students and staff.

What Serve stores

Serve stores your Dunn account and school profile, service opportunities, entries describing your service and hours, supervisor contact details, uploaded proof, and review decisions. It also keeps a history of submissions, corrections, and administrative actions.

Who can see it

You can see your own service records. Assigned reviewers can see the entries and proof they need to review. Dunn Technology has administrative access to support the app and oversee school records. Advisors can see their advisees' service progress and yearly totals. Authorized staff can log service for others; those entries identify who submitted them.

Uploaded proof and retention

Student proof files are kept until July 1 seven years after the recorded graduation year. Staff proof files are kept for seven years after the service date. Serve stops providing access at the expiry date and schedules the file for deletion; deleted files have a seven-day recovery window.

Service entries and review history are separate school records. Dunn has not yet set a fixed deletion period for those records. Contact Technology with a question about retention or a request to correct a record.

Google Drive and Gemini

When you choose a file from Google Drive, Serve requests access to the file you select for use with Serve, using Google's drive.file permission. It does not request access to your entire Drive. A copy of the selected proof is uploaded to Serve.

If you use form reading, the uploaded form is sent to Google's Gemini service to suggest details such as the service date, hours, description, and supervisor. You check and correct those suggestions before submitting. Gemini does not verify signatures or approve hours; the assigned reviewer decides. Serve also uses Gemini to suggest opportunity icons for authorized staff.
